When you think about it logically, it’s better that if we can, we all work because it contributes to the economy – which whether we like it or not, enables the majority of us to live.

It’s also true that we need money to enable some of what makes us happy, even if that’s the baseline of security and food on the table.

When you turn to the heart though, for most, the majority of time, we’d simply rather do something else. That could be because our jobs are stressful, boring or we struggle to find the meaning.

I also wonder what role repetition plays, the so called ground hog day that comes from the time structures we live by (a week in this case) and the regular reminder that time is passing.

So firstly, I think we need to work on accepting the logic that work is part of life. That’s not to say you shouldn’t find another job if your current situation is making you feel worse than the ‘Monday feeling’.

Secondly, I think we should address our heart through self-reflection. It might be you find some positives, a better balance or new personal boundaries.

It might also be that you need to limit your career success if it’s taking you too far away from more important areas of your life. This can sometimes be the deeper feeling.

A final consideration – I think we should be careful not to over celebrate Fridays…in doing so we could be setting ourselves up for the opposite feeling come Monday…
