Patience is one of the most difficult things to master, but vital to long term, meaningful success.

I like to use the sand jar analogy…

We add one grain of sand to the jar a day, we can’t add more. There is no way to fast track it. Day after day, we move one grain after another. Then one day we look at the jar and we start to see a small mound forming. We keep going and before we know it, the jar is full.

Choose something meaningful, take purposeful action and stay patient. You will succeed.

Tips for carrying on when you think you can’t

  • Breathe…close your eyes and take 10 slow breaths in and out
  • Walk away and change the scenery
  • Distract yourself. Try music, a conversation or exercise
  • Write down why you’re doing this. Be detailed
  • Ask yourself, how bad do you want it? Really, how bad?
  • Find inspiration. A film, videos, photos
