You might be aware of the mind exercise where you ask someone to memorise everything in the room that’s red, then close their eyes and ask them to list 5 things that are blue.

They’ll probably be able to list a few things, but not as many as they could red objects!

I catch my brain mulling over pointless scenarios or thinking of things that I don’t consider a priority. When I do, I re-focus. But it’s a big ask (unrealistic for most of us) to always be mindful, so I try and take multiple points in the day for deliberate thinking and then rely on my compass the rest of the time to direct me.
